A young man was on Monday imprisoned for three years by a Thika law court, for allegedly stealing a television set and a microwave from an uncle.
Stephen Kamande, 19, who appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuku, allegedly broke into Wilson Mburu’s house before walking away with the items valued at Sh50, 000.
Mburu told the court that the nephew broke into his house on December 22 last year at 1pm, when nobody was in his premises.
The complainant reported the matter at Manjuu police station in Murang'a County, after which the case was referred to Thika law courts for mentioning.
Kamande pleaded guilty, thereby the magistrate handing him a three year jail term at Shimo La Tewa prison in Mombasa.
Also in the same court, a man who pleaded guilty to a charge of over speeding contrary to county traffic rules was fined Sh20,000 in default to serve six months jail term.
John Kihoro, 32, was charged with the offence of exceeding the speed limits with 112km/h, instead of the allowed 100km/h along Thika road.
Kihoro was also charged with the offence of driving while drunk, contrary to county governments' act
The prosecution told the court that the accused was arrested on March 28 by Thika police officers during their normal traffic patrol and produced in court today.
The accused was said to be endangering passengers’ lives for over speeding and driving while drunk.
