A middle-aged man is in police custody for allegedly attempting to steal a car battery from the county garbage collecting tracks.
The suspect was caught the previous day stealing from the county garbage collecting tracks at 7:50pm, said Kisumu County police commander Isaac Alimaa.
The police boss told reporters at his office that officers acted following a tip-off from the public.
"Members of public saw the suspect trying to break into the county parking and notified the AP officers," said Alimaa.
"The suspect took advantage that there is no lighting system at the parking by sneaking through the fence," he added.
He said that the suspect is under police custody and that investigations are under way to trail other suspects and shade more light.
The AP commandant urged citizens to practise community policing by reporting such cases of theft to the police.
