Coast detectives have a man hunt for the attackers of Italian tourists on Monday morning.

Couple Luigi Scassellati (72) and Maria Satta (71) were ambushed by an armed gang at their private villa in Sultan near Kijipwa police station in Kilifi county.

Reports indicate that the gang was armed with crude weapons.

Maria died at the scene while his husband is in critical condition at Mombasa Hospital.

Her husband was rushed to Jochum hospital before being transferred to the Mombasa facility for specialized treatment.
