The three men blindfolded the victim. The victim said that for fear of endangering his life any further, he did not let them know that he had identified one of them as a resident in the same village.

The three men broke into the victim’s’ house and demanded money, his phone and all his electric gadgets. When the victim hesitated the three disguised men beat him up mercilessly and left him with severe injuries after stealing several things from the resident.

Yatta police OCPD Kipsang Chagat spoke in Iviani Market where the residents had gathered this morning, he confirmed the incident and said that one of the three thugs who had been identified had been tracked down by community police.

“One of the attackers who the victim identified has been tracked down by community police who managed to intervene after villagers alerted them. The furious residents beat him up and the identified man sustained bad injuries before the police officers arrived and rescued him. They rushed him to Matuu Level Four Hospital for treatment before being taken him to court later in the day,” said Chagat.

Chagat further established that the suspect had been found with some stolen items and an amount of money believed to have been stolen from the business man. He further warned the residents against taking the law into their own hand.

“It is inappropriate to do street justice and against the law, wait for the police officers to arrive and the suspect will be arraigned in court and pay for his actions,” said Chagat

The rest of the attackers escaped but the police from Kithimani police station have launched a man hunt for the remaining three with the help of the community police.
