A man suspected of mounting illegal roadblocks and stealing vehicles along Kabati-Murang'a Road was on Sunday arrested at Thika Level Five Hospital, where he had gone to seek treatment, following a shoot-out with Police Officers on Saturday night.
According to Murang’a Administration Police Boss Josphat Kinyua, who led the arrest, the culprit is among a group allegedly masquerading as police officers along the highway, engaging in criminal activities.
Kinyua further added that they are still pursuing his other accomplices.
“There are those we arrested at the scene where they had mounted a roadblock while others escaped with gun injuries like this one, and we suspect they could be hiding in the neighbouring counties like here,” said Kinyua.
According to Kinyua, the man, who was shot in the stomach and one of his legs was broken, is said to be among a gang that has been terrorising residents using illegal roadblocks, adding that they will conduct more investigations to arrest the other criminals who escaped.
Kinyua has now appealed to the members of the public, who could have information that could lead to the arrest of the other culprits to report to the nearest police station.
