A middle-aged man was on Wednesday arraigned in a Thika court accused of possession of illegal drugs and illegally having a pistol.
James Mwaura, 26, from Kiandutu slums in Thika appeared before the resident magistrate and pleaded not guilty.
The charge sheet indicated that Mwangi, who is a bodaboda rider was apprehended by Kiandutu AP officers on March 14, 2015.
Senior Sergeant Amhed told the court that they were on normal patrol on the material date, when they came across a group of young men, who after noticing the police dropped the gadget they were holding and ran away.
Police managed to arrest Mwangi and took him to Kiandutu AP post, and later moved him to Thika police station.
The bhang and the pistol were produced in court as exhibits bomber one and two.
Further witnesses are expected to testify before the honorable court on set dates.
The accused, who had been handed a bond of Sh200,000 on March 15 and a surety, was given an alternative of Sh50,000 cash bail.
The case was adjourned until June 29, when the next witnesses, who is another police officer and a local business man are expected to testify.
