A 23-year-old man today (Thursday) has been arraigned in Thika Law Court for allegedly defiling a four year-old-girl and deliberately infecting her with gonorrhoea.
The accused Geofrey Karangu, who denied charges against him before Thika Resident Magistrate Martha Mutuku, faced two charges of defiling the young girl in February 25 this year at Majengo Slums in Thika and failing to go for medical treatment knowing well that he was infected with gonorrhoea.
Narrating the ordeal to the Court, the father of the girl (name withheld) said that he noticed that the girl was complaining of pains in her private parts and that after he examined the girl, he realised that the girl had sperms in her private parts thus confirming that she was raped.
The father of the victim then reported the matter to Thika Police and the accused was arrested in his home at Majengo Slums and taken to Thika Police Station.
The victim was then taken to Thika Level Five Hospital for checkup where it was confirmed that she had been defiled and infected with a venereal disease.
The accused’s advocate Mary Mwangi argued to show reason why the kid had a venereal disease and not because her client had actually defiled the girl.
The accused was released on a Sh300,000 bond. The case was adjourned till next hearing scheduled for April 23 this year.
