A 30-year-old man appeared before a Nakuru court on Tuesday to face charges of stealing timber worth Sh4000 from a yard that is owned by his employer.
Senior Resident Magistrate Patrick Mwaniki heard that on October 9th at around seven o'clock in Mawanga estate in Nakuru town, Daniel Kiuna, who is an employee of Mawanga Timber Yard was found ferrying ten pieces of timber being the property of Samuel Kihara, his employer, using a donkey cart he had hired.
According to the prosecution bench, the suspect had used counterfeit keys to access the timber yard.
The prosecution said that the accused, who was in the company of the donkey cart owner, who was not before the court were spotted by a night guard who alerted the complainant.
The court further heard that the accused was later arrested at a drinking joint in the area after he had abandoned the stolen property near the joint.
The prosecution bench requested the court to charge the suspect with stealing from employer and for illegal breaking into property.
He was released on a Sh30,000 bond pending hearing on December 8.
