A matatu driver has been arraigned before the Kibera Law Court to answer to charges of careless driving.

The accused, Simon Kinoti, is reported to have hit a car belonging to Cord leader Raila Odinga.

The court heard that Mr Kinoti, who is a father of six, committed the traffic offence on June 7, 2016 in Karen, Nairobi County.

Kinoti pleaded guilty to the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi.

He however asked for leniency saying the incident was his first accident.

Magistrate Ochai ordered him to pay a fine of 30,000 shillings or face a three-month jail term.
