A 32-year old man was on Tuesday arraigned in a Nakuru court for robbery with violence and rape.
James Mwangi was arrested on June 21 and accused of robbing Consolata Ndululu Sh45,000, five smart phones and a tablet all valued at Sh114,500 on June 20 at Mukuru Farm, Lanet in Nakuru. Mwangi, in the company of others who managed to flee were armed with guns and other crude weapons on the material day.
Appearing before Chief Magistrate, David Kimei, Mwangi was also accused of raping 22-year-old, Selestine Wavinya on the same day.
Mwangi, who was beaten by an angry mob and sustained serious injuries didn’t take a plea, saying that he is in pain.
The court directed that the accused be given medical attention, and he is currently detained at Nakuru Central Police Station.
The case will be mentioned on July 5.
