Meshack Maingi, 28 however, denied the allegations before Kithimani Principal Magistrate Davis Karani.

The Prosecution Desk presented accusations against Maingi stating that the accused raped a 19-year-old girl in Kivaa market while she had gone to visit him as a friend.

According to the Prosecution Desk, Maingi committed the act in October 8 2014 at his home in Kivaa Village Yatta sub-county in Machakos County.

Magistrate Karani in his ruling said that according to Police investigations, the accused committed the act knowing it was a violation of one’s right.

“The evident provided in this case is beyond any reasonable doubt. The medical report has clearly stated that the samples taken on the day of rape match the accused therefore, the Court finds the accused guilty of rape,” said Karani.

Maingi was slapped with 10 years sentence in prison with no option of bond. He has however been given 14 days to appeal on the ruling.

Magistrate Karani after his ruling warned residents and mostly men against forcing young girls to engage in sexual intercourse with them.
