A man accused of bestiality was on Tuesday arraigned before a Thika court and released on a Sh200,000 bond.
David Ngugi appeared before Thika Court Resident Magistrate Esther Mburu, charged that on March 7 this year at Juja farm in Kiambu County, he had canal knowledge with a sheep.
The 28-year-old man who stood pensively in the parked court however pleaded not guilty, and is set to be brought back for hearing on May 17 2015.
The jammed court heard how on the material date, the accused was caught red-handed committing the heinous act on the animal by his employer, who raised alarm which attracted neighbours, who arrested him and took him to the police station.
According to a veterinary doctor from Kabete Veterinary laboratory Dr D.M Mwanyumba, who attended to the sheep, an examination on the animal revealed some spermatozoa and bruises an indication there had been some forceful entry.
The prosecuting officer, Stella Oyagi told the court that the accused was also found with two rolls of bhang upon arrest, and it is believed that he was under the influence of the cannabis sativa.
Members of the public were advised by the magistrate to make use of the opposite genders and shun engagements with animals.
