A middle aged man was on Wednesday arraigned before a Nakuru court and charged with defilement.

William was accused of defiling a 13-year-old minor on December 8 at Wanyororo area in Nakuru county.

The court heard that the accused repeatedly defiled the girl between diverse dates of October 13 and December 8 when the minor was allegedly found in his house.

The prosecution submitted that the girl had previously been reported missing for about three days, only to be found in the house of the accused who happened to be a neighbour.

The accused however denied the charges before senior principal magistrate Liz Gicheha and was released on a cash bond of Sh 200,000 with a surety of similar amount or a cash bail of Sh100,000. 

The case will proceed on February 2.

In the same court, a man accused of being drunk and disorderly was sentenced to community service for two months.

John Ndirangu pleaded guilty to the charge and was handed the duty by the magistrate, who ruled that he was a habitual drunk.

He was directed to a probation officer who will monitor him during that period.

The accused was arrested by police officers in Rhonda on December 7.
