Accused Solomon Opondo however, denied the charges before Kisumu Chief Magistrate Esther Maina for the offence he allegedly committed in May 27, 2015.

According to the Prosecution Desk, the accused defiled the girl when she visited his home looking for the accused’s children to play with.

The accused who is a resident of Nyalenda in Kisumu town is said to be neighbours with the victim’s family.

The court was told that the accused dragged the girl into his house where he allegedly did the act and upon returning home, the mother of the child noticed some funny reactions by her daughter which made her inspect the whole of her body only to realise she might have been assaulted and took her to hospital as the girl was getting weaker.

At the hospital, where the victim was admitted for two days, it was confirmed that the minor had been defiled and doctors advised the mother to report the matter to Police.

Opondo is said to have gone into hiding the moment he was aware that he was sought after by Police since the girl had narrated the ordeal to the mother and the person responsible.

Police managed to arrest Opondo on Saturday after a tip off that he had returned home to pick some of his belongings.

He was remanded as the Prosecution sought more time to complete the investigations concerning the whole issue.
