A man was Tuesday presented before a Kisumu court and accused of stealing Sh3.7 million from Aga Khan hospital in Kisumu.

Maurice Yongo appeared before principal magistrate Eric Obina and was charged that on diverse dates between May 1 and May 15, he colluded with other people who were not before court and stole the sum.

The charge sheet read he stole Sh367,136,000 while serving as an employee of the hospital.

He denied the charge and was released on Sh500,000 bond with a surety of a similar amount. He was not given the alternative a cash bail.

His application that the bond terms be reduced was declined.

The magistrate said the Sh500,000 bond term was commensurate with the charge.

The case will be mentioned on January 13 and heard on March 2 next year.

Separately, another man was charged before the same court with possessing fake currency.

Evans Otieno was accused that on December 29 in Okore estate in Kisumu, he tried to deposit Sh10,000 in an M-Pesa transaction.

He allegedly gave the money to Bartholomew Ochieng, an Mpesa attendant.

He denied the charge and was released on a Sh50,000 bond term.

The matter will be mentioned on January 13 and heard February 25.
