A man has been arrested in connection with the murder of Janet Asunah, a 26-year-old model based in Mombasa.
Confirming the arrest on Sunday, Mombasa OCPD Lucas Ogara, said the man is being held to allow room for further interrogations.
Ogara however did not disclose any personal details of the suspect or where he was being held.
"We are interrogating one man whom we suspect may know something about Asunah's death," said Ogara.
The OCPD said that the man was arrested with bhang, adding that his statement might lead to the arrest of other suspects.
"We found three big rolls of bhang in his house which is next to the deceased house. We are still recording statements and conducting investigations which could lead to more arrests," he said.
The autopsy conducted on the deceased's body showed that she was hit by a blunt object on the head, which led to internal bleeding.
The murder of the model comes as a shock since Kizingo is considered as one of the safest estate in the area, as it is home to several senior officers.
