Kithimani law courts on Tuesday sentenced a middle aged man to five years in prison without fine for arson contrary to Section 332(a) of the Penal Code.
Particulars of the offence being that on June 2, 2017 at Kiatineni in Ndithini village, Masinga sub-county of Machakos County, the accused willfully and unlawfully set fire to his father's house.
Richard Maingi Munywoki Who appeared before Senior Resident Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe was found guilty of burning down a house worth Sh50,000 property of Joseph Munywoki.
The accused had earlier pleaded not guilty and later changed his plea.
In his mitigation, the accused pleaded with the court for leniency claiming he was remorseful and had learnt from his mistakes.
The court gave the accused fourteen days to appeal.
