A middle-aged-man in Njoro died on Wednesday after he was hit on the head with a stone by his colleague.
James Ongwenyi Orang', who works at a butchery, is reported to have been arguing with his colleague over Sh60.
Ongwenyi succumbed to the injuries as he was about to be taken to hospital.
According to those who witnessed the incident, the two men started arguing about the money on Tuesday evening and continued with the argument on Wednesday after opening the butchery.
"We do not know how the dispute started but they kept on mentioning a Sh60 debt. We suspect Ongwenyi owed his colleague the money or it was the butchery’s money," said Samuel Muchiru, a fruit vendor near the butchery.
Njoro OCPD Fredrick Lai confirmed the incident saying the suspect, identified only as Kimani, fled after committing the offence.
"The culprit is still on the run but we are looking for him to charge him with murder. We were told his name is Kimani and investigations are underway,” said Lai.
The body of the deceased was taken to Molo District Hospital Mortuary.
