A group of teachers from Itumbe area in Kisii County have moved to court to have a man who allegedly sold them a piece of land arrested and arraigned in court to answer charges of defrauding them.
Speaking to HiviSasa.com when they toured the land located few kilometres from Itumbe town, they accused one Victor Obiri of selling them a piece of land which he is accused of acquiring through fraudulent means.
They said efforts to have him respond to questions from a man perceived to be the genuine owner has hit the snag since he is said to have mysteriously disappeared from the region.
“All plans to sue him have been finalised and we want him subjected to court to answer claims that the land he sold us last year at Sh1.2 million is not his. We have received evacuation order from one Justus Ratemo and we therefore suspect a foul play here,” said Anthony Monda.
“The two men have produced title deeds which look similar and we want to know the truth and possibly have our money refunded. He has been on the run since we discovered the issue and that is why we want a court settlement,” added Monica Onsinyo.
According to them, they will challenge the eviction order by Ratemo till the man who drew us to the deal is arrested and the matter solved since they had started developing the land which was initially a quarry.
