The Wednesday morning incident that left residents in shock is said to have generated from a heated debate between the victim, 43-year-old Rodney Onyari, and his younger brother, Peter Onyari, over the ownership of the land that they have been managing jointly.

According to Erick Nyambeki, a witness, the victim had reportedly demanded that his younger brother quit from executing any mining business from the quarry since the quarry was part of his land before the accused took a machete and cut him repeatedly.

“They have been operating the quarry jointly and all the revenues have always been shared equally. But I heard the victim demanding that the younger brother vacate from the quarry since it was proportionately on his land,” said Nyambeki.

“The accused then took a 'panga' and repeatedly cut the victim several times before I marshalled some youths to rescue him,” he added.

Police in Nyamache, led by corporal John Okapes, are hunting the suspect to face charges over an attempted murder.

“The police are pursuing the man who is allegedly executed the crime since he has gone missing. We will ensure that he faces the law accordingly,” said Mr Okapes.
