Two people have died while another sustained serious injuries along the Nandi-Kisumu border in Kopere following the ongoing tension that arose after unknown people raided a bishop's home and made away with cattle.
The raiders also attacked other villagers and made away with 16 cattle in broad daylight.
An eyewitness said the bandits attacked Bishop Abuto Ogacho’s home at Kopere Village, Muhoroni Sub County, Kisumu County in broad daylight and stole the livestock.
The deceased is yet to be identified but is believed to be one of the youth who had pursued the attackers to recover the stolen animals.
The injured man is recovering at Maraba Sub-District Hospital where he was rushed for treatment.
Police from Nandi and Kisumu counties have moved in to calm the tension and have beefed up security along the border.
