A man who admitted to having killed his father in a domestic row has been jailed for 10 years by a Kisii court.
Kisii High Court Judge Winfrida Okwany heard that on June 25, 2016, the suspect Douglas Mogesi's father, Samuel Gekonge, got into a fight with his wife after they disagreed.
Mogesi joined the fight and hit his father with a wooden plank to defend his mother.
Mogesi's brothers heard the commotion and tried to plead with him to stop but in vain.
He (Mogesi) severally hit his father on the head and on the legs.
In her ruling, Judge Okwany said that the accused behavior painted a bad picture of a man who the society would not live with.
"This case is a classic demonstration of a total breakdown in societal and family values", ruled justice Okwany.
She handed him 10 years in jail.
