A Mombasa Court has sentenced a man to one year in prison for tearing his girlfriend’s clothes.
The accused, Mr Billy Anyanzwa, faced charges of tearing Ms Eunice Njeri’s clothes worth thirty thousand shillings.
The prosecution told the court that the accused committed the offense at his lover’s house in Kaa Chonjo-Tudor Estate in Mombasa.
The accused also faced a second charge of stealing Njeri’s mobile phone.
Mr Anyanzwa pleaded guilty to the charges, saying he was angry when he committed the offense.
The accused said he was mad at his girlfriend whom he accused of having a love affair with another man.
“I suspected my girlfriend was cheating on me because I am jobless and that is why I got so mad and reacted that way,” said Mr Anyanzwa.
Mombasa Principal Magistrate Diana Mochache found the accused guilty of all charges and sentenced him to one year in jail.
