A 27-year-old man was on Wednesday night killed at Ondire village in Kikuyu Sub County in what police suspect was a crime of passion.
Kikuyu Officer Commanding Police Division (OCPD) Mr Mutune Maweu said Stephen Mwaniki Muchiri had gone to visit his former girlfriend late at night when he found her intimate with another man.
Out of rage, a fight ensued and Muchiri was allegedly stabbed using a kitchen knife. He bled profusely as he left the house and died on his way home where he was discovered in the morning by members of the public.
The police boss said the suspected killer ran away and is still at large. The female owner of the house was arrested and is detained at Kikuyu Police Station to assist police with investigation.
Police arrived on time at the scene of the crime to rescue the woman whom members of the public wanted to lynch.
The body of the Muchiri was taken to Kikuyu Hospital Mortuary.
