A 26-year old man on Sunday night lost his life after a 14 sitter matatu driver lost control of the vehicle while crossing bumps.
Confirming the incident on Monday morning, Yatta Sub-County police OCPD, Edward Kipsang Chagach, stated that the man was hit while walking beside the road.
"The accident has happened in Ndalani, specifically Makutano area, where a pedestrian was hit by a passenger vehicle which lost control while crossing bumps around the area," said Chagach.
The police boss stated that accidents happening on the Thika-Garissa Highway are on the rise mostly due to careless driving. He also confirmed that the police have already arrested the driver and conductor of the vehicle.
"The accident occurred around 8 PM at night and the police were informed and have already arrested the driver and his conductor who are in Matuu police station custody," he added.
The police have launched their investigation on what exactly happened. The body of the young man was picked by the Matuu police officers and taken to Medians Mortuary Hospital.
