Police officers from Kangundo police post have launched an investigation into the death of a 29-year old man, whose body was found dumped outside his Kawethei home, next to his gate in Kangundo Sub-county.
Residents of Kawethei village on Tuesday early morning found the man, who was laying adjacent to his gate with severe injuries filled with blood, with residents noting that he was well known for his daily drinking habit.
Confirming the incident in his office in Kangundo town, area police boss Wilson Waqo stated that the police had been informed of the incident, which is believed to be a murder case, as the deceased had severe injuries believed to be from blunt objects.
Waqo however confirmed that the deceased was intoxicated, as he smelled of alcohol and a plastic bottle of alcohol also found in his possession.
“It is an unfortunate incident that a promising life of a young man has been cut-short in such a manner. It is alleged that he went out drinking with his friends at a local club in Kawethei but did not return till morning. He was killed and dumped outside his gate which most probably means those who committed the act knew him,” said Waqo.
He further warned area residents against drinking past late night hours, as it poses a risk to their lives, and furthermore it is breaking the law. He also warned bar operators against sale of illegal brew to the residents.
The body of the victim was later taken to Kangundo Hospital mortuary as police started investigation surrounding his death.
