A middle-aged man has this morning been found dead and floating in Juja’s Witeithie dam.
The deceased was noticed by schoolchildren from the lower part of Witeithie who informed their teacher, who alerted local police officers.
Sergeant James Linguli, who arrived at the scene of the incident some minutes after being informed, said that the man had cuts all over his body.
He added that the man had no identification and no one seemed to know him in the area.
“We were informed by a teacher from Springs primary school and we acted with speed. The deceased had no identification and we didn’t know him either,” Linguli said.
The officer in his judgments said that the man might have been killed elsewhere and dumped in the area as very few people pass by the dam at night.
“The body might have been dumped in the dam after committing the crime elsewhere,” the officer said.
He added, “We are probing the matter to ensure we arrest anyone involved in this killing and we urge anyone with information on any suspect to help us and we will act.”
The body of the deceased was taken to Thika General Kago mortuary, awaiting a postmortem examination and to be claimed.
