A 20-year-old man has been killed after heavy rainfall pounded the Coast region.

The young man, whose identity has not been disclosed, met his death at Bengo village in Kwale County after he was swept away by fast-moving waters of River Ramisi.

Confirming the tragic incident, acting county commissioner Mwangi Hiram said the death is the first to be reported following the onset of heavy downpour in the region.

“We are asking residents in the county to be more careful, especially when they are crossing flooded streams and rivers. The waters are too strong during this rainy season,” he said as quoted by the Nation.
