Residents of Bosamaro Chache in Nyamira County are mourning the death of a man who was killed on Monday night and his body dumped in a tea plantation.
Locals said the body of Zachary Mong'are Matagaro was discovered by tea pickers who were picking tea at the farm.
"I met the deceased going home on Monday evening. It a shock that unknown people killed him and dumped his body in the tea plantation. Police must move with speed and arrest the killers," said Enoch Okioma, a local.
Okioma, aid the deceased had deep cuts in his head a clear indication that he was attacked with a panga.
The locals protested increased insecurity in the region.
"Police serving in the area are lazy and should be transferred because they have failed to protect us. interior CS Fred Matiang'i should resign if he can't manage to beef up security in his backyard," said Angela Moraa.
Nyamira County commissioenr Isaiah Nakoru confirmed the incident and said police officers have launched investigations to bring the suspects in book.
He called on residents to volunteer information to police so that the killers can be arrested. The deceased body was taken to Nyamira County referral hospital mortuary.
