Residents at Olympic area of Kibera attacked and killed a man who was implicated in the theft on Tuesday evening.
According to eyewitnesses, the suspect allegedly tried to steal from a girl who was moving houses. The suspect t is said to have been armed with a knife.
Confirming the incident, the chief officer of the Olympic area, John Kiarie said that the police have already launched an investigation in connection with the case.
"We have started the investigation and then we rock but residents reporting for our officers arrest a suspect in the theft," said Kiarie.
In addition, he urged residents to take desist from torturing suspects of theft or lynching them. He asked that the residents hand over the culprits to the police instead.
The body of deceased was taken to City Mortuary.
