Police officers in Uasin Gishu have launched a manhunt for a suspect who allegedly killed another over a Sh100 debt in Kapcholola village on Monday.
Confirming the incident, Eldoret West OCPD Samuel Mutunga said that they have intensified the manhunt and once arrested, the man will face murder charges.
Mutunga said that the culprit only identified as Kipkemoi killed the other using arrows after a tussle ensued when he demanded to be paid Sh100 the deceased owed him.
“We are not happy about the killing as there are procedures to follow once someone doesn’t pay your debt and we are urging locals to stop taking law into their hands,” said Mutunga
Kapcholola sub-location assistant chief, Kenneth Rotich said Kipkemoi reportedly owed the deceased Sh2,000 but he insisted on being paid his Sh100 first before he could clear his debt.
The deceased then asked Kipkemoi to deduct the Sh100 from the Sh2,000 he owed him then clear the Sh1,900 remaining but Kipkemoi instead got annoyed and went for his arrows with which he came back and shot him.
“We want to assure the family of the deceased that the culprit will be arrested in few days and arraigned in court,” said Rotich.
The body is currently being preserved at Eldoret Hospital mortuary hospital mortuary.
