Confirming the incident on Thursday, Yatta police boss Edward Kipsang said that the three thieves allegedly stole the bull at Kwa Kiwanza village.

“The accused were found by community policing officers slaughtering a bull in Mavoloni forest,” said Kipsang.

Kipsang suspects that the three wanted to sell the meat to the nearby butcheries.

“Furious residents took the law on their hands and beat the three. One of them was severely beaten and fell unconscious where the residents burnt him. The second suspect was saved by the community policing officers while the third suspect managed to escape,” explained Kipsang.

The community policing officers warned residents against moving with livestock at night to reduce cattle theft in the location.

Kipsang condemned the mob justice as illegal and against the law of Kenya.
