A middle-aged man has been stabbed severally on his chest by his younger brother before succumbing to his injuries at Kapkatet district hospital following a land row.

The early Thursday incident that let the residents in a deep shock is among several cases of land rows that have remained unsolved despite court battles and community elders’ intervention.

According to witnesses, Mr Elijah Obare was killed by his younger brother Benson Moindi following a squabble over the ownership of a 3-hactare piece of land in the larger Borabu settlement scheme.

“They have been having a quarrel for a long time now and I can confirm that the case is pending in court. The assassin committed the incident early in the morning after a few exchanges. He has since run away and the victim was rushed to Kapkatet before he died,” said Mr Peterson Ondieki.

Area chief David Ogega condemned the incident and urged residents to respect the rule of law by following amicable solutions when solving disputes.

“It is quite unfortunate that someone can lose a life on an issue that can be solved. It is important that we embrace peaceful means of settling disputes. We will not condone more deaths out of land disputes,” he said.

Mr Ogega announced a major exercise to arrest the suspect besides urging residents to give credible information that will lead to his arrest.
