A man is in police custody after he hacked his friend to death after a quarrel ensued regarding a sh100 debt.

The incident, which happened in Ebukhubi village, has left residents in shock.

According to area assistant chief Evans Ouya, the suspect, David Atolwa hacked Charles Ambal with a machete after the deceased went to collect the money.

Ambal died while receiving treatment at Coptic Nursing Home.

Angry villagers later torched the suspect's house.
