In an exclusive interview at his office, area OCPD Isaac Thuranira said that the suspect dragged the deceased out of his house at around 8pm, claiming that he had stolen window grills from his premises.

Thuranira added that the wife of the deceased, Miriam Wambui, reported the matter to Gitambaa police post, after which officers launched a manhunt for the suspect. The police ostensibly managed to apprehend him some minutes after midnight.

The deceased was found later in the night seriously injured and a Good Samaritan took him to the Ruiru sub-district hospital, from where he was referred to Kenyatta National Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The suspect is currently in police custody awaiting to be charged at the Thika law courts.

Thuranira warned that no one has the right to take the life of another individual.

He urged residents to report any theft or crime cases to the relevant authorities instead of taking the law in their own hands.
