Residents of Kumuohi in Kabazi area are in shock after the body of a two-year-old girl body was found stuffed in a gunny bag. It is believed that the girl was killed by her uncle on Sunday morning at his house and later transported and dumped in the nearby Bahati forest. The shocked villagers appealed to the police to hurry up the investigations. The girl's mother, Noami Kiarie, said she returned home from work yesterday afternoon only to discover that the girl was not at home. “We immediately launched a search for her and when as a family we failed to trace her, we reported the incident at Kirengero police station. It was during the search that they arrested 24-year-old Edward Ndegwa, who directed the investigating officers where he had hidden the body and covered it with grass inside the bush. Police say he confessed to killing the girl, saying that he wanted revenge after they disagreed with the girl's father two weeks ago. Eyewitnesses claim that the young girl was among many of the children who often went to pick fruits from Ndegwa's farm on Sunday. It is alleged that he ordered the rest of the children to leave before he lured her into the room and killed her. Police were forced to save the man from the angry crowd who were bating for his blood and he was later escorted to Subukia police post. The man, believed to be a member of Happy Church in Subukia, is said to have attended the morning service in the church. Subukia OCPD Alex Ng’ang’a confirmed the incident, saying: “We have already launched investigations into the matter.” The body of the deceased was taken to Subukia hospital mortuary.
