A middle aged man in Ndeiya, Limuru has murdered his step-mother in cold blood after suspecting her of witchcraft.
Witnesses say the man killed the step-mother following the death of his four-day old son who died on the way to hospital.
"The boy was being taken to Tigoni hospital but he died. The man came home and told the step-mother the bad news," said James Nderitu, a family member.
"The woman was watering the animals; when she came to condole them. He slashed her with a panga saying she bewitched her son," he added.
The suspect’s father, Peter Kimani, has said he was surprised by the incident adding that he is not aware of any bad blood between the two.
"She had four deep cuts around the neck and the shoulder. I have never heard or seen the two quarrelling", said Kimani.
John Kariuki, a resident has asked the authorities to deal with the man strictly to act as a deterrent to others with such evil thoughts.
The man is now at Tigoni Police station awaiting to be charged in court.
