A 35-year old man has killed his 28-year-old wife by stabbing her on the neck using a kitchen knife before hanging himself to death.
The incident occurred on Monday morning in Mwania-Mbiti Vilage, Ngoleni sub-location Kathiani sub-county in Machakos County.
According to the house help who witnessed the incident, the man who is a father of four also tried to kill his children but they managed to escape after they heard their furious father going towards their bedroom.
“It was early in the morning when I was preparing the children to go to school when I heard my boss quarreling. The boss tried to go to the children’s room, an approach that made the children rush outside to the neighbours house to seek for refuge,” said the house help.
Ngoleni Chief Peter Munyao confirmed the incident saying that the incident was unfortunate as the children had been orphaned at a young age. The eldest child is still in primary school.
“The incident happened early in the morning just after the couple woke up as the bodies were found in night wears.
The husband hit his wife using a stool before stabbed her on the neck. After noticing he had killed her he ran outside took a rope and hang himself on a tree in front of the house. He had also tried to kill his children but luckily enough the children escaped,” said Chief Munyao.
The Chief advised the area residents who had gathered at the deceased home not to be engaging they spouses in fighting which in most cases lead to death.
On the contrary he urged them to approach village elders or the recently chosen ‘Nyumba kumi’ leaders who will help them come into an amicable solution.
The two bodies were later taken to Kathiani Hospital mortuary by Police officers from Kathiani Police Post.
