A middle-aged man on Tuesday night killed his wife with a spade at Sigona village, Kisii County.
Area chief Charles Morara said that the man came home drunk and picked a quarrel with his wife.
"All we have learnt now is that the man came home drunk and kicked off a fight with his wife but the cause of the disagreement is yet to be established," he said.
Diana Omari a local, said that they never bothered to interfere as the couple is used to fighting.
She said that the man only raised alarm after he realised that his wife remained still on the ground unconsciously.
"We all got shocked and started screaming which attracted a huge crowd that threatened to beat the man up," she said.
The body of the late was taken to Kisii Teaching and referral hospital.
