The Bukusu Council of Elders has suspended its chair days after leading a delegation of elders to meet President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Richard Walukano was accused of violating the council’s regulations.
Led by Joseph Wekesa, the council said that they are non partisan.
According to the Star, Wekesa said that they often advice both government and Opposition on crucial matters touching on the Bukusu community.
"We are very much aware that the elders who to State House took their interests and tummies and not the interests of our community," he said on Sunday.
He went on to announce that Maurice Makhanu will be the acting chair pending the election of a new one.
Walukano was among the elders who visited Uhuru and DP William Ruto in State House and pledged to drum up support for Jubilee in next month's repeat polls.
"We have decided as a council that all the officials who went to State House stand suspended until further notice," he added.
