An angry mob has lynched a 60-year-old man for attacking three men, including his brother, in Naivasha Sub-county.
The cause of the Thursday attacks was not clear but the deceased had purportedly made threats while on a drinking spree before the unfortunate event happened leaving the three injured.
According to an eyewitness, Charles Munyalo, the father of three sharpened his machete and indiscriminately started attacking everyone in sight without any provocation.
“We were caught by surprise as the deceased armed with a machete started attacking everyone indiscriminately,” Munyalo reported.
He added that the angry mob then descended on the attacker beating him ruthlessly to death before the police arrived.
“During the stampede, the angry mob attacked the deceased while Good Samaritans rushed the injured to safety and later to hospital,’ he added.
While confirming the incident, area OCPD Charles Kortok said that the motives behind the attack could not be established for now.
“It is an unfortunate incident that we could not contain. We will still pursue the matter,” Kortok said.
Kortok warned the public against taking the law into their own hands but rather involve the relevant authorities to avert similar incidents.
The three victims are recuperating and in stable condition at Naivasha Sub-county hospital as police investigate the cause of the attack.
