A man and his mistress were on Tuesday arraigned before an Eldoret court and accused of attacking and injuring his wife.

The court was told that the two, Dennis Makokha Amonje and Rehema Mutindi, attacked Damaris Marimba after she demanded to know why the husband had abandoned the family for the new lover.

Court documents indicate that the two jointly committed the crime on December 5, 2017, at Kahoya estate in the outskirts of Eldoret town.

The prosecution told the court that during the alleged attack, the wife who was breastfeeding sustained neck and leg injuries.

Appearing before Eldoret Chief Magistrate Charles Obulutsa, the two denied all the charges leveled against them.

There were attempts by the husband, a businessman in Eldoret town, to plead with the wife to withdraw the case and allow the matter solved outside the court as a couple but they were futile after the wife bluntly rejected the request.

"What I have been through in the hands this man is unbearable. I don't think there's anybody who can reconcile us," the wife told the court.

The accused were released on a sh20,000 cash ball each with hearing for the case set for January 25, 2018.
