A middle-aged man has been held at Tala Police Station for allegedly defiling two minors.

The area Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Samuel Nguyo who confirmed the incident said the accused is suspected to had defiled the two class one girls at Matuu in Matungulu, Machakos County.

"The Man was arrested on Friday, he is suspected of defiling two girls aged six and seven years both in class one in a neighboring school," Nguyo said.

Nguyo said the accused, Eric Syengo also knocked out a tooth from one of the girls' in an attempt to cover her mouth to bar her from screaming.

He said Syengo will appear in court on Monday next week to face defilement charges.

Nguyo urged residents not to cover up sexual crimes against children and instead report them to the police.

"Residents should with immediate effect report cases of defilement to the police for action to be taken against perpetrators," Nguyo concluded.

Defilement cases are on the rise in Matungulu sub-county.

It's barely a week since a seven-year-old boy was reportedly sodomized by his biological father in the sub-county.
