David Gesicho has argued that restricting the mass registration to only 30 days would lock out many Kenyans who have attained voting age.

"Not all people can quickly get their identity cards from the National Registration Bureau within a short time. President Kenyatta’s directive that the IDs be issued [quickly] doesn’t apply equally to all Kenyans," he said.

He also accused IEBC of lying that it had no cash to extend the registration a mere ploy to lock out some Kenyans.

"There has been a very deliberate scheme by the legislative and the executive arms of government to deny the IEBC sufficient funds to carry out its mandate," he said.

IEBC top management has maintained that the registration will not be extended.
