The accused, Philip Mukoma pleaded guilty to physical abuse charges when he appeared before Winam Resident Magistrate Philip Oilo.

The prosecution alleged that in June 18 this year, Mukoma assaulted his four-month-pregnant wife after they engaged in an argument.

Mukoma’s wife, Florence Chakava said she had been assaulted after she had taken groceries that her husband intended to sell to her friends. Chakava said that her husband asked to be refunded Sh1,200, but she could not raise the amount of money making the accused to physically assault her.

Mukoma is said to have packed the belongings of Chavaka and threatened to throw her out of his two-roomed-house located in Miwani, Kisumu.

The court heard that when the wife enquired why her belongings were being packed, Mukoma started beating her all over her body without considering that she was pregnant with his child.

The complainant reported the matter to Miwani Police Post where her husband was arrested a day later and taken to custody.

Mukoma’s bail application was unsuccessful as he was remanded until next week on Monday for the final hearing of the case.
