A Thika businessman was on Monday robbed by gunmen near Majengo shopping centre at around 3pm.
Julius Karagu, the victim, explained how the two hooded men riding on a motorcycle approached him like normal customers and pointed a gun at him, threatening him to give them all the money from his shop or else they shoot him.
“One had a gun pointed at me and I had no option but to comply. They ordered me give them all the money I had and I gave them without argument,” he said.
The businessman said that they took from him Sh120, 000, a mobile phone and a mini laptop, both estimated at around Sh45,000.
Thika West OCS Robert Okinya said that the robbers must have been around the area for sometime, surveying as they approached at the time when there was no customer at the shop and ready to rob.
He added that they were notified late as the man reported later and by the time the officers arrived the suspects had already made their way with the property and money.
He called upon the area residents to be vigilant and cautioned motorcycle operators against aiding criminals.
“We have already launched investigations into the matter and we believe we will apprehend these few people causing trouble in the area,” the OCS said.
