A 41-year-old man shocked residents after he chased his wife of 9 years over jigger infestation in the family.
This happened on Friday in Monyerero village, Marani in Kisii County.
Residents said the man, Erick Nyang’au, married his wife with a boy child 9 years ago and they have been blessed with 2 more children.
“Nyanga’u beat his wife before he sent her away on claims that she has failed to maintain cleanliness at home prompting jiggers to attack their children,” said a neighbor only identified as Kadogo.
Devis Ondigo, area Nyumba Kumi official confirmed the incident and said the man kicked the wife out of the home for being dirt.
“Josephine reported her husband to us but we could not interfere because when we arrived at the home we found the house dirty and their 3 children have been attacked by jiggers. The woman went to her parents' home in Manga and left the children with their father,” he said.
Ondigo said 2 children dropped school because they cannot walk due to jiggers attack.
Lukas Basweti, area community health worker promised to spray the man’s house with pesticides to kill the jiggers and promised to ensure the family gets new beddings and have their house floor repaired to keep off the jiggers.
