A primary school watchman has been sentenced to 15 years in jail for raping a 17-year-old girl in Likoni area.
The accused, Mr Mjera Nyota, pleaded guilty to the offense.
He admitted to raping the girl several times at the Consolata Primary School in Likoni on February 27, 2016.
In his mitigation, the accused pleaded with the court to be lenient on him, noting that he was remorseful and would never be involved in such an indecent act again.
“Your honour I ask that you may forgive me. I will never at any other time repeat this mistake,” said Nyota.
Issuing the ruling on Monday, Senior Principal Magistrate Ongeri Nyakweba ordered for a probation audit report and a thorough mental examination to be done on the suspect.
Magistrate Nyakweba said the accused had earlier on been issued with a one-year probation and he was most likely to repeat the same mistake once released to the community.
