A 28y-year old man was on Monday slapped with a 2-year jail term without an option of a fine in the Kithimani Law courts, Yatta Sub County.
The man named before the magistrate court as Kennedy Musyoka was arrested on February 10th 2016 after reportedly breaking into a shop and stealing goods.
The accused was arraigned before Kithimani Residents Magistrate Martha Opanga.
The incident was reported after the owner of the business peter Ndung'u alerted the police of the suspect and later found the missing items in the possession of the accused.
In her ruling, Magistrate Opanga termed the accused as guilty sentencing him to a two-year correctional term in jail.
The accused, however, plead guilty to the charges.
In the same court, a driver was charged with carrying heavy luggage together with passengers and a second case of driving unroadworthy vehicle.
The accused is expected to pay a fine of Sh1,000 shillings for the first charge or serve a jail term of 30 days and for the second case pay a fine of Sh15, 000 or serve a 3 months jail term.
