Mohamed Deeq, the man who stabbed his wife early this year, was on Monday sentenced to 20 years in jail.
The accused was sentenced in a Wajir court where he was found guilty of subjecting his wife, Fatuma Ibrahim, to grievous bodily harm in January 2016 at Khorof Harar town in Wajir.
Fatuma made news countrywide as she was left nursing wounds in her body as the stabbing knife remained lodged in her left cheek for over twenty four hours before she was later airlifted by the Amref flying doctors for further treatment at Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi, where the lodged knife was successfully removed in a surgical operation.
In a concerted bid to evade justice, Deeq smeared his body with raw human waste when he first appeared before a Wajir based court in March 2016. The accused also informed the court that he was trying to prevent his wife from committing suicide when the incident occurred.
